Personal Victories!!

HEY EVERYBODY!!!  :)  :)  :)

So I SHOULD be making dinner or at the very least putting it away because it's in plastic bags on the floor in the hallway... but INSTEAD I have to share this with somebody since The Sweet Lovin' Man's not home yet!!!

A few nights ago I went to Skokie for a counseling session with SCORE.  Skokie's about 40 minutes away.  It was dark, I was unfamiliar with the territory and Mapquest's directions sounded like something out of DJ Casper's Cha Cha Slide ("Sliiiide to the left.  Now slide to the right").  But alas, I made it. And all God's people said!?  AMEN.

Well, today I had to go to Target.  I noticed there was one on the way to Skokie so I'm kinda psyched I know where I'm going.  I've only ventured out a few times because I've been unpacking, etc. so this is all still very new to me.  I get my shopping done, go to Lincolnwood Produce (cause I done noticed that there, too!) and started on my way home.

Hollywood Street (what city & state am I in again? Oh yeah, there's a California Street, too!) becomes North Shore Drive.  Easy!

But SOMEWHERE along the way, I ended up on Halsted.  Because I was so excited, taking in the small shops & flurries & my caramel flavored Dunkin Donuts coffee, I somehow managed to 'sliiiiiiide to the right' a few million extra steps & where I was?  WHO KNOWS.

Wait, who knows!!??  I KNEW!!  I KNEW!! I KNEW!!!  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

I WAS SOOOO ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN & MADE MY WAY HOME WITHOUT A MAP OR ASKING DIRECTIONS OR ANYTHING WHEN I'VE ONLY VENTURED OUT A FEW TIMES!!!  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

I was all, "That's Clybourn, yo!  I'm-a keep going because the lake is to the left -BAM!  And then I'm gonna take a left & turn onto LaSalle cause that's where my friend says she works- BAM! BAM!  Yup!  Hello LaSalle Power Company!  And oh look!  There's Wacker!  Hello pedestrians!! Take a left cause right is where the SLM & I have turned for partially good cupcakes! BAM, BAM, BAM!!!"

I TOOOOOTALLY MADE IT HOME & I AM THE SH*T.  I PUT "THE MAN" IN MANDI, YO!!!

I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous but I was soooo happy & thrilled & bouncing off the walls (which is hard to do in a Hannah Honda)!!!  When I turned onto Michigan Avenue with all of it's gorgeous twinkly lights and beautiful architecture & knew fo reals exactly where I was, I felt like it was some glorious celebration in honor of ME!!!

My final thoughts are this:

1)  I LOOOOVE THIS CITY.

2)  Dunkin Donuts, my lover-- I lived in L.A. eight years- EIGHT YEARS since I've put your blessed coffee to my lips.  Why do you still have crappy lids?  Inquiring coffee soaked jeans want to know.

3)  CHA CHA NOW Y'ALL!!!  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

Have I mentioned I'm the shiz???  ;)
*giggle, giggle, snort, snort!!*

YAHOOEY!!!
*snort*

Love,
MandiC.
