Maple Walnut Cinnamon Buuuuns (Suga, Suga, how'd you get so fly?)

Cinnamon Buns.

Let me clarify...

Cinnamon Buns... NOT out of a can.

(Not that I've ever passed up a cinnamon bun from a can.  Are you kidding me!?  They're exquisite!)

However, homemade from scratch cinnamon buns right out of the oven?   They're TO DIE for!  I got the recipe from The Pioneer Woman.  It's great because she's got pictures of how to do it properly along the way.  I just didn't have the time!  And the frosting is made with coffee and maple extract.

Coffee + Maple= WINNING FLAVOR COMBINATION.

In hindsight, I would do a couple things differently.

*I'd half the recipe cause this makes at least six cake pans full.  (Not that I couldn't add another food baby).

*Her recipe calls for rolling out the dough, pouring on melted butter, sprinkling with a cup of sugar and cinnamon.  Instead I would add the sugar & cinnamon to the melted butter & make a paste.  There was melted butter EVERYWHERE when you go to roll it up.  Making a paste makes it a bit more frosting-esque and still performs the same function.  That function being DELICIOUSNESS.

*And I also added some chopped nuts to the butter/sugar/cinnamon mixture.

And that's about it!

On a sidenote, I had a wonderful birthday.  My friends Dr. Beth & JT came through like nobody's business and my room feels like my own space, my little safe haven.  So I'll do a blog on all that soon but I want to finish a few more things with it before I show it off a bit.  :)

But just wanted to say an extra special thanks to them and to anyone else that made my day special.  And it's fall, everybody!!!  I can't say it enough.  I walk outside & see the changing leaves and I feel like I'm in an episode of Gilmore Girls... I couldn't be more thankful for that.

Mmmm... Autumn is almost as delicious as these freakin' 5,000,000 calorie dough nuggets of goodness.  I swear.  Hope you all are enjoying the season wherever you are!

Crunching leaves and football,

P.S.  Making these cinnamon buns I couldn't stop singing that song from back in the day, "Girl, ya got me so fly with yo sweet honey buns, you been there when the money's gone, you'll be there when the money comes... fo real, though!"  Remember that song!!???  Lol...
