Poker & Cupcakes

I haven't posted in a while.  Maybe I posted two days ago & it feeeeels like it's been weeks? I don't know.  Has it been years?  What I DO know is that I ABSOLUTELY HATE LOSING POKER TOURNAMENTS.  Fo reals.

I was up til about 2:30ish playing a tourney & came in 57th out of 2500.  I won $9.  I had pocket aces, landed another on the flop, went all in because a)  IT'S THREE ACES!  and b) there was no straight or flush draw scare which is important.... AT THE TIME.  This girl, heads up, went all in on nothing & totally lucky, out of nowhere, landed a flush.  I still feel punched in the gut.  I mean it was like 67 cards worth of spades or something.  Just painfully lucky.  UUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHH.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... "You did really well!"  says The Sweet Lovin' Man who is more excited about my new poker pursuits than my business- HA!  But I reeeeeeally like to win and I HAVEN'T won yet, which is the problem. And those games are LONG!  Four to six hour investments, y'all!  While I can totally appreciate that I played better than most & I'm improving and DID win $9... to get THAT close to WINNING, though, (not to mention $791) reeeeally sucks.  On a positive note, at least I DID go all in 'doing the right thing.'  I mean, three aces?  That's a blaze of glory.  *cue Bon Jovi*

Anyway, hence the reason I'm up at 4 in the morning & writing about poker!  I'm waaaay too hopped up still... it's such a high!!!  I can't sleep when my eyes are twitching.  Yes, my eyes are really twitching.  Yes, you should be concerned for me.

But enough of this poker crap (just kidding, I love you, Poker!!!), let's talk cupcakes!  My friend Beth asked for a dozen red velvets for a friend of hers & her newborn baby!

It says- ahem... "Welcome baby, Maya!"

She's lives in an Indian Mesoamerican civilization & is very angry that Hollywood is telling people that the world will end in 2012.  That's just not how her people roll!  Hollywood will destroy anything!

(That little story is what we call 'a bluff' in poker).

Beth's friend isn't big on pink so I thought purple would be pretty.  I like to use sugar cookies rather than fondant or gumpaste.

, you might ask?

(Hahahaha... I kill me).

Because sugar cookies taste better, that's why!  :)  :)  :)

Then I did a few for Beth & her husband.  A-cuz I can!

Very simple.
Sometimes simple's nice.

Like winning with three aces.
VERY simple.
Errrrrgh.

And another one.  I don't like this one as much.
It's called a LOSER.
*sigh*

Wow.  I'm so disappointed about the tournament, I kind of want to eat everything in the house.  Yet, I  CAN'T.  You know those people that don't eat when they're stressed?  BAHAHAHAHAHAAA... yeah, that's not me.

Howeverwhoozle, mark this day down in history folks, it doesn't happen too often!
I'm so disappointed & antsy, I have zero desire to eat.  In fact, I think I would barf if I tried.

Fo reals. So I'm going to 'fold' to the rest of this blog & try to get some sleep.

Good night, everybody... And yes, you should send me links to Gambler's Anonymous.

*sigh*

I'm afraid Miss Mandi that the photos do not do justice to the amazing taste and smell of these lovelies. All I can say is WOW! Maya's mom adored them. Thanks again!

I wish my Daddy were around to read about your bad beats. If it makes you feel any better, you did do pretty well. If you ended up, "in the money," you did better than most.

Personally, I think you would do even better in person. Those long lashed, big baby blues would be a great disguise for a SHARK!

Awwww, Candy. I wish your dad was around, too. :(
*BIG HUG!*

And I would LOVE to play in person... when's our next Vegas trip & where's my fancy mascara??? :)
