Shedd Aquarium

One of my favorite movies of all time is 'Home For The Holidays.'  In this movie Holly Hunter and Claire Danes are a mother/daughter duo that tend to talk about their scuba diving experience whenever Holly is stressed out. Claire always responds, "Just float, Mom.  Remember the fishes?  Just float."

This has been a pretty crazy month or two & I find myself saying the same thing... except I've never been scuba diving on vacation.  I have been to Shedd Aquarium, though!

These were taken 126,000 years ago & I never posted them.  Maybe because I need the reminder to 'float' now.  I hope they help you to 'float,' too!

First things first... PENGUINS!!!
Not really a floating fish buuuuut.... I don't care.

Oh my goodness, this penguin was flapping away.
He was very excited to be swimming!

These two penguins just stood there facing the back wall. They never moved.  They are weirdos.  I've named them Chris and Marie!

This was a beluga whale... very peaceful.
Now there's an animal that knows how to float!

He just liked to swim laps around the tank & let his thick skin ripple in the water.  That's the life!

This seal had a whole area to play in but instead stood by the door, "It is time for my feeding."

He looks so huggable.
But his name is Sting Ray.
Hmmm...

Little zebra fish...
Hi zebra fish!

There were many turtles all over Shedd Aquarium.  Here's the first one.  I've named him Larry.

This is the oldest fish at the aquarium.  He's been around since the Great Depression.  If I remember correctly, they call him 'Granddaddy.'  He looks a little tuckered!

This fish didn't have a name.
I have a feeling it wouldn't remember even if it did!

These fish were spastic!  Just zip zopping all over their tank like a bunch of busy bodies.  They were cute.  :)

Another turtle!  Reminds me of one of my childhood dance costumes growing up.  I wonder if he glows under black lights, too!

More turtles!  More turtles!
They are so weird, they are so funny!
Why are you in formation like that, turtles!?
They look like creations of Madame Tussaud!

This fish sang to me!!

'It's now or never. Come hold me tight.
Kiss me my darling... Be mine tonight."

Then he ate a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Elvis has left the fishbowl!

These little suckers freak me out.

A bullfrog.  He is VERY low maintenance!

So is this guy.
It's almost like he's in love with the rock.
He looks happy & snuggly.

It's NEMO!!!  :)

Another turtle except this one looks like it lost its legs!

Okay, this is NOT a 'floating' fish.  This is a way messed up, unnecessary creature that God created to give me nightmares.  Ahhhhh!!!  YOU'RE NASTY, YOU WEIRD AQUATIC SPIDER-CRAB-FISH THING!!!

This fish knows its a beautiful color.
And yet is very humdrum about it.

They say this weird sucker is an electric eel.

But I'm pretty sure this is the space slug The Millenium Falcon flew out when they landed on that asteroid.

This dude's just chillin', too.  Those eyes are pretty creepy.
I bet they could suck out a man's soul!
(Thank God I'm a woman).

These turtles got on their 'f*ckin' pants!'
Sorry, but they did!!!

And then here's a picture of another turtle-- JUST KIDDING!!
It's ME, you guys!!!

My dad gave me these starfish earrings that OF COURSE I wore to the aquarium because I'm a GIANT DORK.  :)  And look!! They had a starfish wall!!!  It was destiny.  It was fate.  It was time for lunch at that point.

Floating like a jellyfish, stingin like an electric eel,

Don't you remember the electric eels Flotsam & Jetsom in the movie "The Little Mermaid"?

I do, Angie! I LOVE The Little Mermaid. The Les Poissons song actually went through my head a few times as we walked through... Then I had this terrible craving for sushi. ;)

We went to the Shedd when we were in Chicago, and we all had the same reaction to that spider-crab critter. Ewwwwww.
